Hip-Hop Icon Big Boi to Perform at The 2024 Great New York State Fair

Seven-time GRAMMY winner Big Boi from legendary hip-hop duo OutKast will have fairgoers feeling that B-A-S-S, bass later this summer when he takes the Suburban Park Stage on Friday, August 30 at 8:00 p.m.

A cultural icon and a pioneer in hip-hop, Big Boi, born Antwan André Patton, is a diamond-selling artist, rapper, songwriter, record producer, actor, and philanthropist from Atlanta, Georgia. Widely regarded as one of the most influential hip-hop artists of all-time, Big Boi burst onto the music scene in 1994 with the release of OutKast’s debut album “Southernplayalisticcadillacmuzik,” which was certified platinum. The group followed with the double platinum album “ATLiens,” in 1996, which climbed to No. 2 on Billboard’s Top 200 chart, before releasing “Aquemini” in 1998, which was certified triple platinum and reached No. 3 on the same chart.

Big Boi and OutKast’s most critically acclaimed album, “Speakerboxxx/The Love Below,” was released in 2003 and was certified as Diamond after selling more than 10 million copies. The album, which included two No. 1 hits, went on to become the first hip-hop album in history to win the GRAMMY for Album of the Year.

In total, Big Boi and OutKast have sold over 25 million albums, had three singles reach No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, and had three albums chart inside the top three on Billboard’s Top 200 chart.

Individually, Big Boi has also had critical acclaim with his solo album “Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty” landing at No. 3 on Billboard’s Top 200 chart while multiple other projects have racked up millions of streams.

“Big Boi and The Great New York State Fair is the perfect recipe for summer fun and excitement,” said Interim Director Julie LaFave. “We’re always listening to feedback from fairgoers on which acts they’d love to see. These comments and suggestions help to shape our entertainment lineup and we’re so excited to have a seven-time GRAMMY winner take the Suburban Park stage!”

The Fair starts Wednesday, August 21, and runs through Labor Day, Monday, September 2. All concerts are included in the price of admission, which will go on sale later this summer. The Great New York State Fair is the most affordable state fair in the country. Tickets are $8 for adults while admission is free for children under 12 and senior citizens aged 65 and older.
