  • Seniors 60 and over are admitted free on Monday, August 27 and Tuesday, August 28, 2018.

  • Agriculture Career Day

The New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets and the State Department of Labor partner to promote agriculture careers to get young people excited about the many possibilities for future jobs in the industry.


  • Family Fishing Day

Presented in cooperation with the state Department of Environmental Conservation. Admission is free for anyone presenting a valid New York State hunting or fishing license at the gate. The DEC will operate free fishing clinics in the pond in the New York Experience festival grounds on this day.


  • Grape Day

The 2018 Great New York State Fair will celebrate its first-ever Grape Day with new events and high-quality grape products that will be sampled and sold across the Fairgrounds. Grape Day will include fun-filled activities to educate fairgoers about the State’s superfruit and to promote New York’s Concord grape industry. Grape Day delivers on the promise made at the State’s Concord Grape Summit, held in April of this year in Chautauqua County, to reinvigorate and boost New York’s Concord grape industry.

The first state fair in America to host an official Pride Day to celebrate the LGBTQ community, the annual event includes a morning flag raising ceremony, performances in the Empire Theater in the afternoon and LGBTQ participation in the daily parade at 6:00 pm.

  • Law Enforcement Day

We honor the men and women of law enforcement in New York State with free admission to any active or retired law enforcement or corrections personnel who presents a badge or picture ID from the department from which they are or were employed. Make sure to attend the Law Enforcement Day ceremonies at 12:00 pm in front of the Horticulture Building and make sure to see all the law enforcement participants in our Special Day Parade at 6:00 pm.


  • Maple Day

In celebration of New York’s growing maple industry, the New York State Fair will hold its first-ever Maple Day. Maple Day is sponsored by the New York State Maple Producers Association and will feature maple products, such as maple cotton candy, maple donuts, pancakes with maple syrup, and more, that can be sampled at locations across the Fairgrounds. Cooking demonstrations using pure New York maple syrup will be held throughout the day in the Wegmans Demonstration Kitchen and maple vendors will be sampling and selling products at the Taste NY Marketplace in the Horticulture Building.


  • Senior Citizens’ Day

Senior citizens, sixty (60) years of age and older, are offered free admission today. ID showing date of birth may be requested to allow free admittance.

There is a new reception area for senior group bus and van parking, thus a special parking permit for this location will be required. Please contact the Art & Home Center office at (315) 487-7711 ext. 1265 to pre-register for this permit.

Fairgoers are able to make use of the Fair’s free internal tram network with the service running 9:00 am-8:00 pm. These trams travel around the perimeter road, stopping at 11 scheduled stops.  Free trams are made possible by Chevrolet.


  • Wade Shows Midway Monday

Ride 10 rides for just $10 through this special promotion. Wristbands can be purchased at any Wade Shows ticket booth on the midway. Wristbands are not shareable. Please see Midway page for height restrictions on all rides.

  • Fire & Rescue Day

We honor the brave men and women of fire and emergency services agencies with free admission to any active or retired member of a fire department or emergency services organization who has a picture ID from that department or organization. Make sure to attend the Fire & Rescue Day ceremonies at 11:00 am in front of the Horticulture Building and make sure to see all the fire & rescue participants in our Special Day Parade at 6:00 pm.


  • Beef Day

Follow your nose to the Chevy Court pavilion to watch as local media personalities try their hand at becoming the “Branding Iron Chef” in the “Branding Iron Cook-off” media grilling contest beginning at 10:30am. At 12:30pm New York State FFA Chapters will take over as they compete in the 12th Annual “Create the Perfect Burger” contest sponsored by the New York Beef Council and Tops Markets.  Ten NYS FFA Chapters will grill head to head as a panel of judges will determine who will take home the title for not only the “Perfect Burger” but $875 worth of prizes for their school chapter!  After the competitions, plan a trip to the Beef Barn where a host of fun, interactive activities will entertain and educate you and New this year, you can participate in  “Pound out” Hunger” right outside the beef barn. Take a swing at demolishing a car. One swing to pound out hunger for $2 or three swings to pound out hunger for $5. The Beef Producers Association and NY Beef Council are partnering with the Food Bank of CNY to collect donations for beef purchases for those New Yorkers most in need.

Women's Day • College Student Discount Day

  • Women’s Day

Plan on attending the annual Women’s Day Luncheon plus many other special events throughout the day. Highlights include the Fine Arts and Photo Exhibition in the Art & Home Center as well as judging in the Culinary Arts area.

The 2018 Women’s Day Luncheon will take place in the Art and Home Center’s Empire Room at noon.  A reservation is required for the luncheon and seating is limited so registering as soon as possible is recommended. The cost is $20.00, which will cover the luncheon, a fair pass and parking. More information is available by calling 315-487-7711 ext. 1265.

 

The Art and Home Center will open at 10:00am on Women’s Day. In addition, a mini-fair will be held from 10:00am to 4:00pm on Chevy Court and will feature many advocacy groups for women. Feel free to stop by to discuss and ask questions and make sure to see all the Women’s Day participants in our Special Day Parade at 6:00pm.

Armed Forces Day • Dairy Day • $3 Thursday • College Student Discount Day

  • Armed Forces Day

We celebrate the men and women of the military with free admission to any active duty or veteran with military identification (Military ID Card, form DD-214 or NYS Driver License, Learner Permit or non-driver ID card with a veteran designation). Make sure to attend the Armed Forces Day ceremonies at 11:00 am at the Veterans Memorial. Join the State Fair community as we honor and give tribute to all members of our Armed Forces. Make sure to see all the Armed Forces participants in our Special Day Parade at 6:00 pm.


  • Dairy Day

This is the State Fair’s way of saying thank you to all the New York dairy farmers, dairy product processors and manufacturers who provide us with the state’s official beverage, milk and official snack yogurt!  Come enjoy the day’s fun activities from the local celebrity milkshake contest at the Chevy Court Pavilion starting at 10:30am to picking up a dairy trivia card at any guest relations booth and dropping the completed card at the Dairy Cow Birthing Center for your chance to win a Taste NY gift basket!  Check out the dairy cattle strut their stuff in the Tractor Supply Dairy Cattle Building followed by the Dairy Day parade at 6:00pm.  Be sure to stop by the Dairy Product Building, open from 10:00am to 10:00pm, and meet with State Dairy Princesses, enjoy a cup of cold white or chocolate milk, get a picture of the famous butter sculpture, check out the new fixings at the Milky Bun yogurt bar and the Cheese Booth.

We honor all members of Native American tribes with free admission on this day. ID is not required, but it is asked that attendees enter through Gate 4 only. Make sure to see all the Native Americans Day participants in our Special Day Parade at 6:00 pm and visit the Indian Village throughout the day for cultural performances and crafts.


  • New Americans Day

Come to the Empire Room in the Art & Home Center and be inspired as 100 people from all around the world complete years of hard work and become American citizens, raising their right hands and swearing allegiance to our country.


  • Stomp Out Stigma Day

Help in the fight against addiction takes center stage at the new Stomp Out Stigma Day. The event coincides with International Overdose Awareness Day. The day will feature inspirational talks with former professional BMX rider Tony Hoffman, an information fair with support services, and free training sessions in the use of NARCAN.


  • Students’ Day

People 18 years old and younger admitted free on this day. ID showing date of birth may be requested.


  • SU Football Day

Admission is just $1 when wearing Syracuse University apparel, in honor of the opening game of the 2018 football season.

Collegiate teams and coaches from Morrisville, Cobleskill, SUNY ESF, and Paul Smith’s will participate in this year’s 2nd annual Timber Sports & Forestry Experience Day at the New York State Fair. In addition to demonstrations by over 60 collegiate competitors, there will be demonstrations by professional timber sport athletes, a lumberjack exhibit, Hud-Son Forest Equipment, Wagner Lumber and an extensive forestry exhibit put on by Cornell Cooperative Extension of Onondaga County.

Labor Day • Summer Send Off "Dollar Day"

On Labor Day, we honor the working women and men who make America strong. Supporters of labor can meet at 10:00 a.m. near Gate 4 and then at 10:30 a.m. they will march to Chevy Court for a Labor Day rally.


  • Summer Send Off “Dollar Day”

     – Adult admission to the Fair will be $1 per person all day.

     – All of the rides in the Wade Shows Midway will be $1 per ride (excludes Broadway Skyliner).

     – We’ll light up the night and say farewell to the Fair at dusk with fireworks after the end of the 6:00pm show at Chevy Court.

     – Fair Parking will still cost $5.
