Phase Two Expansion

On January 23, 2017, Governor Andrew M. Cuomo announced the exciting plans for the second phase of improvements to the New York State Fairgrounds, based on recommendations from the State Fair Phase Two Task Force.

 

January 19, 2017- Syracuse - Governor Andrew M. Cuomo Gov. announced numerous capital improvement plans for the Great New York State Fair, including a world-class gondola that will carry 1,200 people an hour from the New York State Fairgrounds to the Onondaga Lakeview Amphitheater. THE ELEMENTS:

A brand new Events Center in the heart of the Fairgrounds. It will be an 80,000 square foot multi-use building that can host trade shows and conventions, large horse shows, public events and more.

A new, 38-car gondola linking the western end parking lot of the Fairgrounds with the Lakeview Amphitheater and the Loop The Lake Trail. It will provide more parking and easier access for Amphitheater events and many other events.

A brand new ride -- a skyride -- returns a bird's-eye view of the Fairgrounds to the Fair. Midway operator Wade Shows will install and operate the ride in time for the 2017 Fair.

The Fair's largest parking lot, the Orange Lot, will be paved, with improved traffic flow and use of E-Z-Pass. Also, a new exit to I-690 westbound will be built to speed traffic out of the lot.

More people than ever before came to the Great New York State Fair in 2016. For 2017, we're creating an extra day so even more people can have fun at the Fair. The new 13th day of the Fair will be Wednesday, August 23. Details for the day will be announced later this year.
