Rock outfit 38 Special makes a return visit to the Great New York State Fair with a 7 p.m. show Tuesday, Aug. 27 on the Experience Stage in the New York Experience Festival Grounds as part of the Chevrolet Music Festival. The band last appeared at the Fair in 2009.
After more than three decades together, 38 Special continue to bring their signature blast of Southern rock to over 100 cities a year. And at each show, thousands of audience members are amazed by the explosive power of the band's performance. Their many Gold and Platinum album awards stand in testament to the endurance of a legendary powerhouse. With sales in excess of 20 million, most associate the band with their arena-rock pop smashes, “Hold On Loosely,” “Rockin’ Into the Night,” “Caught Up in You,” “Fantasy Girl,” “If I’d Been the One,” “Back Where You Belong,” “Chain Lightnin’,” “Second Chance,” and more. These are timeless hits that remain a staple of rock radio, are immediately recognizable from the first opening chord, and which pave the way to their present-day touring regimen.
Over the Fair’s 13 days, the Chevrolet Music Festival at at the New York Experience Stage will feature several national touring acts along with a mix of major bands from across Upstate New York and national touring tribute bands. The New York Experience Stage is located on the west end of the Fairgrounds.
