They’re “Back on the Road Again.” Veteran New York State Fair performers, REO Speedwagon, will “Take it on the Run” to play at the Experience Stage at Chevy Park at 8:00 p.m. Monday, August 28.
Formed in 1967 and fronted by iconic vocalist Kevin Cronin since 1972, REO Speedwagon’s unrelenting drive, as well as non-stop touring and recording jump-started the burgeoning rock movement in the Midwest. From 1977 to 1989, REO Speedwagon released nine consecutive albums all certified Platinum or higher. The band’s landmark Hi Infidelity album, which contained the massive hit singles “Keep On Loving You” and “Take It On the Run,” spent 15 weeks in the Number 1 slot in 1980. To date, REO Speedwagon has sold more than 40 million albums!
Cronin and bandmates Bruce Hall (bass), Dave Amato (guitar), and Bryan Hitt (drums) are still electrifying audiences worldwide in concert with hits and fan-favorites.
“REO Speedwagon’s timeless collection is catchy, and fun to sing along to. The band’s hits teach us so many life lessons too! From how to ‘Live Every Moment,’ and ‘Roll with the Changes,’ to how to ‘Ride the Storm Out,’ and ‘Keep On Loving You,’ audiences will be loving them right back as they sing along and dance their way through the evening,” said Interim Fair Director Sean Hennessey.
REO Speedwagon’s performance, like all performances in the Chevrolet Music Series, is free with admission to the Fair. The Fair starts Wednesday, August 23, and runs through Labor Day, Monday, September 4.
The Chevrolet Music Series schedule features daily performances at Chevy Court (located near Gate 1) and the Experience Stage at Chevy Park (located on the western end of the Fairgrounds, beyond the Midway).
