Taste NY Store Joins Taste NY Market to Improve Sampling and Shopping Experience for Visitors in Popular Horticulture Building
More than Two Dozen Vendors Featured at Taste NY Market for First Time
Taste NY Drives Tourism and Complements "Central NY Rising" - The Region's Comprehensive Strategy to Revitalize Communities and Grow the Economy
Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today announced an expanded Taste NY experience at The Great New York State Fair, by bringing the Taste NY Store and Taste NY Market under the same roof for the first time. The Taste NY Store will move from its location near the main gate to join the recently expanded Taste NY Market inside the Horticulture Building. Featuring more than 30 new companies, the Taste NY Store and Market will help connect visitors to a wider selection of New York food and beverage products. These changes support the Governor's $50 million plan to transform the Fairgrounds and improve the experience for guests. By connecting local businesses to new customers, the new Taste NY experience complements the region's economic growth strategy, Central New York Rising.
"The first round of renovations at the Fairgrounds attracted record crowds in 2016, and these new changes will make this year's Fair even better," Governor Cuomo said. "By bringing both Taste NY attractions together under one roof and adding new vendors, fairgoers can enjoy some of the best products made in New York, while supporting local businesses and helping Central NY rise."
Taste NY Market The Taste NY Market will highlight more than five dozen companies from across the state, and vendors will be offering free samples of artisan foods, craft wine, beer and spirits, and other products that can be purchased on site. Businesses will rotate during all thirteen days of the Fair, providing guests a new experience each time they visit the market. A current list of participating companies can be found here.
Additional vendors will be added prior to the start of the Fair. The New York Apple Association, Empire Honey Producers Association, New York State Maple Producers Association, SUNY Cobleskill, Morrisville State College and New York Farm Bureau also have exhibits as part of the Taste NY Market.
Taste NY Store The Taste NY Store will move from its location near the main gate to the area inside the Horticulture Building adjacent to the Taste NY Market. It will offer a variety of products not showcased at the market, so visitors can buy even more delicious, locally made foods and beverages such as chocolate, wine, gourmet nuts and much more. The store will also offer a selection of personal care items including handmade soaps. The store will be open from 10a.m. to 10 p.m. on August 24 through September 3. It will close at 9 p.m. on September 4.
Operated by Nelson Farms, the Taste NY Store will carry products from 74 businesses from across the state. A current list of companies featured in the Taste NY Store can be found here. Together, the Taste NY Market and Store will feature producers from every New York region.
Other Attractions in the Horticulture Building A favorite stop for fairgoers, the Horticulture Building brings together some of the very best growers, producers, manufacturers, and apiculturists from across the state. A variety of interactive exhibits, seminars and product booths highlight the diversity and quality of agriculture in New York State.
During the Taste NY Wine, Cheese, and Beer Seminars, representatives from local wineries, breweries and distilleries share their knowledge about grapes, hops, and how to pair various wine, beer and spirits with food to maximize taste. The Horticulture Building also showcases spectacular arrangements of colorful plants and flowers, and the winners of New York's harvest. It also gives guests a chance to get up close and personal with a working bee colony and hundreds of amazing butterflies.

The New York State Fair, operated by the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets, runs from August 23 to September 4, 2017. The Fair's mission, reflected in its theme, "FIND YOUR GREAT," is to showcase the best of New York agriculture while providing top-quality entertainment.
State Agriculture Commissioner Richard A. Visitors will have the chance to meet face-to-face with the hard working men and woman behind those great products and learn more about where they come from and how they are made. Accelerating Central NY Rising Today's announcement complements "Central NY Rising," the region's comprehensive plan to generate robust economic growth and community development. The State has already invested nearly $3 billion in the region since 2012 to lay the groundwork for the plan - capitalizing on global market opportunities, strengthening entrepreneurship and creating an inclusive economy. Today, unemployment is down to the lowest levels since before the Great Recession; personal and corporate income taxes are down; and businesses are choosing places like Syracuse, Oswego and Auburn as a destination to grow and invest in.
Now, the region is accelerating Central NY Rising with a $500 million State investment through the Upstate Revitalization Initiative, announced by Governor Cuomo in December 2015. The State's $500 million investment will incentivize private business to invest well over $2.5 billion - and the region's plan, as submitted, projects up to 5,900 new jobs. About Taste NY Taste NY is an initiative launched by Governor Cuomo in 2013 to promote New York's food and beverage industries. It is overseen by the Department of Agriculture and Markets and has created opportunities for local producers to showcase their goods at a variety of venues throughout the State and at large public events.
