The Roots, one of hip-hop music’s greatest groups and the house band for “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” will perform at 8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 1 at the Chevrolet Music Fair at Chevy Court. All performances on Chevy Court are free with Fair admission.
“We’re honored to have Questlove, Black Thought and the band on our stage. They are among the most influential musicians in hip hop and their shows are among the greatest live performances in popular music. This is a night not to be missed,” said Troy Waffner, Fair Director.
The Roots joins a diverse lineup of top national acts across many genres of music that includes:

- Herman’s Hermits Starring Peter Noone, 2 p.m., August 26
- Midland, 8 p.m., August 26

- Vince Neil of Motley Crue, 8 p.m., August 29
- Granger Smith, 8 p.m., August 30
- Theory of a Deadman, 8 p.m., August 31
- Lovelytheband, 1 p.m., September 2
In addition, several national acts will perform on the Experience Stage in the New York Experience festival area on the western end of the grounds, including:
- Grand Funk Railroad, 7 p.m., August 21
- Jackyl, 7 p.m., August 24
- Pop Evil, 7 p.m., August 25
- 38 Special, 7 p.m., August 27
- Rick Springfield, 7 p.m., August 31
Over the Fair’s 13 days, the Chevrolet Music Festival at Chevy Court and at the New York Experience Stage will feature more than two dozen national touring group performances in diverse genres. Chevrolet sponsors the performances on both stages.

The legendary Roots Crew have become one of the best known and most respected hip-hop acts in the business, winning four GRAMMYS, including "Best R&B Album" for Wake Up!, "Best Traditional R&B Vocal Performance" for "Hang in There" (with John Legend), and "Best Group or Duo R&B Vocal Performance" for "Shine." This brings the band's GRAMMY nomination count to 12. Additionally, "The Roots Picnic," a yearly star-studded mix of musicians, has become a celebrated institution. The Roots were named one of the greatest live bands around by Rolling Stone and serve as the official house band on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.” Most recently, The Roots announced that they are developing an animated children's series, along with a live action children's series, in partnership with Amazon.
