The Great New York State Fair is accepting reservations for RV camping during the 2018 Fair beginning at 8 a.m. Sunday, April 1, Acting Fair Director Troy Waffner announced today. The Fair offers spaces in its 313-site Empire RV Park on the grounds, featuring full water, sewer and electric service, for up to 17 days. Single-day RV camping without services is also available in the Fair’s Pink parking lot.
Visitors seeking full-service camping for the full run of the Fair can reserve their spaces here, while single-day campers can purchase their reservations here. All spaces are sold on a first-come, first-serve basis and are only sold online.
Empire RV Park, the Fair’s full-service campground was created during Phase 1 of Governor Cuomo’s $120 million transformation of the New York State Fairgrounds. It provides convenient on-site housing for staff, vendors and fairgoers during the Fair and is also used during selected major events. Campers need to supply their own water hoses, sewer pipes and electrical cords and must have their own holding tanks. The lot includes parking space for one vehicle. Reservations cost $600 plus a $9 reservation fee per space and includes two, 13-day Fair admission wristbands. Campers will also be able to purchase Grey lot parking for an additional vehicle for $150.
So-called dry camping in the Pink lot features approximately 70 spaces priced at $25.68 per day. No services are provided directly to campsites, though there is a dumping station, hand washing stations, and restrooms with showers in the lot. Campers may use their own generators and can park one vehicle in the lot. Tent camping is not allowed. Admission to the Fair is not included in the purchase price.
The New York State Fair, operated by the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets, runs from August 22 to September 3, 2018. The Fair's mission, reflected in its theme, "FIND YOUR GREAT," is to showcase the best of New York agriculture while providing top-quality entertainment.
