State Fair’s New Midway Madness Sale Packages A Day of Family Fun On The Wade Shows Midway

The Great New York State Fair and its Midway partner, Wade Shows, will sell money-saving packages of rides, food and games, and Fair admission in a special “Midway Madness” sale Thursday, February 22, Acting Fair Director Troy Waffner announced today.  The sale date is exactly six months from the opening of the 2018 Fair on Wednesday, August 22.   The promotion will only be offered online beginning at 6 a.m., via the Fair’s official online seller, Etix.com.

The Fair and Wade Shows will offer two special packages:

  • One weekday ride-all-day wristband, $15 in Midway Bucks to spend at any Midway food stand or game, and two admissions to the Fair for $25 available here: https://www.etix.com/ticket/k/9552209
  • Two ride-all-day wristbands, $20 in Midway Bucks to spend at any Midway food stand or game, and four admissions to the Fair for $45 available here: https://www.etix.com/ticket/k/9476454

Only 2,500 of each package will be available with buyers limited to four packages per purchase. These packages save fairgoers about 40 percent over presale prices and 55 percent over prices during the Fair. Note that Midway Bucks are exclusive to this sale and are not sold at any other time.  Limit four packages of each type per person.

"We worked with Wade Shows to put together a package that maximizes family fun on our excellent Midway.  We know how much parents treasure time with their children and want to help them make the most of it at the Fair," said Waffner.

“We are excited to take part in this fantastic offer. It’s a great way for families that are planning ahead to get an incredible discount,” said Frank Zaitshik, owner, Wade Shows.

Including sales taxes and a service fees, packages will cost $25.68 and $46.13 when purchased at the Fair’s page at Etix.com. Once purchased, tickets are not refundable and buyers should contact Etix customer service with questions.

Buyers will receive admission tickets for entrance to any gate of the Fair (one admission ticket per person) and a voucher for the ride and Midway Bucks that they will take to the Wade Shows office complex on the Midway to receive the wristband and Midway Bucks. Wristbands are only good on weekdays, but can be upgraded for use on weekend days for $5 at the Wade Shows customer service booth. Wristbands do not include the Broadway Skyliner.

Wristbands are not recommended for children under 36" as there are a limited number of rides they can safely ride.  Parents with children under 48" should check the height requirements before purchasing to make an informed decision about whether wristbands are the best value for their children. The lineup for rides for the 2018 Fair has not been finalized but information on the rides from the 2017 Fair, including height requirements, can be seen here.  Wade Shows offers a wristband good for 10 rides for $10 on Monday, August 27 and all rides for $1 on Labor Day, September 3.

Midway Bucks are good for any food vendor or game that is part of the Wade Shows Midway.  They cannot be used for vendors or attractions elsewhere on the Fairgrounds. Midway Bucks will be provided in increments of $5. Change will not be given in return for purchases of less than $5 and Midway Bucks may not be exchanged for cash.

Buyers should note the Fair’s admissions discount days—Dollar Days and Three Dollar Thursdays.  Admission is $1 on August 22 and September 3, the first and last days of the Fair, and is $3 on August 23 and August 30, the two Thursdays.  For the 2018 Fair, people who purchased an advance sale ticket from one of the Fair’s retail outlets or online for the 2017 Fair may use an unused ticket for admission.  This does not include free promotional passes. The Fair offers many low-cost and free admissions opportunities. Check the Special Days page of the Fair’s website for details.  The Fair may add or change admissions programs at its discretion.

Wade Shows is the third largest carnival company in America, as ranked by the industry publication Carnival Warehouse.  More than 5 million people enjoyed its rides, games and food at major fairs and festivals across the country in 2017.  Wade Shows has generated record ridership and provided record levels of revenue to the Fair since its arrival in 2014.  State Fair midway users love the carnival, giving it an all-time high 97 percent approval rating in last year’s annual fairgoer survey.
