Steven Page to Return to The Great New York State Fair

Steven Page

Steven Page will be the first artist to perform on the newly renamed Suburban Park Stage when the 2023 Great New York State Fair begins this summer. Page (formerly of  Barenaked Ladies) will perform at 2:00 p.m. on Opening Day, Wednesday, August 23.

Steven continues to tour around the world performing solo, as one third of the Steven Page trio and even with full orchestra ensembles, more than 30 years after becoming a household name as a songwriter, lead vocalist, and co-founder of the Barenaked Ladies.

Steven has produced five albums throughout his solo career–most recently Excelsior in 2022. Right now, he’s working on an album with The Trans-Canada Highway Men (a quartet comprised of four lead singers of classic Canadian bands including Steven) expected to be released this fall. Steven was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame in 2018.

Also something of a “New York State celebrity,” Page lives in Manlius, a suburb of Syracuse. In fact, fairgoers who attended the first day of the Fair in 2022, might remember watching Steven perform at Chevy Court to open the Chevrolet Music Festival last year.

“It’s been…. one year since Steven wowed us, and we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to bring him back. We are big fans of Steven’s music, and more than that, big fans of the work he does to build community and raise awareness about mental health,” said Sean Hennessey, Interim Fair Director. “During the pandemic, Steven was a fixture on Zoom, performing live virtual concerts every Saturday evening at 5 o’clock, connecting with fans around the world. Even now, he continues to host these ‘Live From Home’ shows when he’s not on the road! The series celebrated its 100th episode earlier this year!”

The 2023 Chevrolet Music Series features daily performances at the newly renamed Suburban Park Stage (located on the western end of the Fairgrounds, beyond the Midway), and at Chevy Court (positioned closer to the Fair’s Main Entrance). All concerts in the Chevrolet Music Series are included with the price of admission to The Fair.

For fairgoers’ planning, Chevy Court will host 1:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. performances every day during the Fair. Meanwhile, Suburban Park will host an 8:00 p.m. concert every night, and most days, there will be a 2:00 p.m. show too.
