Mary Shea Rys is a professional Storyteller who has recently performed in South Carolina, Florida, Kentucky, Texas, and New York City, as well as a number of local venues in the Central New York region. She has performed and taught Storytelling for over 25 years and has received a number of accolades for her work, including Exceptional Women of New York Citation as Educator of the Year from the New York State Assembly (2023), and induction into the Fine Arts Hall of Fame at Liverpool High School (2024). Mary tells a variety of stories and specializes in interactive tales that involve the audience directly, whether through echo and repetition, action and motion, or active participation where the audience members can choose to become part of the performance!  Children, adults, and families will all enjoy joining in with Mary on such favorites as "The Ghost with One Black Eye", "Squirmy the Worm" and "The Freedom Bird" along with other tales from a variety of cultures such as "Mule Eggs", "The Dancing Skeleton" and "Next Time, I'll Know What to Do!"  Come to the Empire Theater in the Art and Home Building to enjoy the amazing art form of Storytelling as Mary presents her funny, silly, and serious stories.
