Tom Nitti, a former contestant on NBC’s hit talent showcase “The Voice,” will take center stage this summer as the Utica native will perform at The Great New York State Fair’s Chevy Court on August 29 at 1:00 pm.
Nitti is a man with many backgrounds, yet he has always found his way back to music. Growing up, Nitti was inspired by classic Motown artists such as Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder, and The Temptations. At 18, he taught himself to play guitar shortly before graduating high school and joining the military. Originally stationed in Germany, Nitti served his country honorably and was deployed to Afghanistan where he sustained injuries and was later awarded the Purple Heart for his service.
Following in his father’s footsteps, Nitti worked in law enforcement after his time in the military. He served as a New York State Trooper for nine years and continues to support first responders through his involvement with the New York State Police Academy where he assists with training of cadets.
Nitt’s passion for music led him to perform on Team Reba on season 24 of “The Voice.” Since then, he has opened for some of the biggest acts in country music, including Craig Campbell, Hunter Hayes, Chris Janson, and Jimmie Allen.
