Hailed by Rolling Stone for their comedic sensibilities and fresh take on some of music's biggest hits, The Cleverlys will bring their one-of-a-kind style to Chevy Court this summer when they perform at The Great New York State Fair on August 30 at 1:00 p.m.
The band consists of Digger Cleverly and his nephews DVD, Bear, Quattro, and Lloyd. Paul Harris, otherwise known as Digger Cleverly, pursued a career in stand-up comedy until finding a niche in comedy-themed music and formally creating the band. The Cleverlys are currently touring across the country and have made appearances at some of the music industry’s most famous venues, including The Grand Ole Opry, CMA Music Fest, and Stagecoach.
The Cleverlys skillfully revolutionize well-known tunes like “Single Ladies,” “Shape of You,” and “I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles),” including their fan favorite “Party Rock Anthem.” Band members excite audiences with a variety of instruments from the double bass to fiddles and banjos to add a reimagined sound to some of the music industry’s most cherished hits. The Cleverlys’ newest album, “Solid Butter,” features popular throwbacks “Love Shack,” “Creep,” and many more.
“The Cleverlys are a distinctive act that specialize in creating humorous interpretations of admired hits from across all eras that are sure to have fairgoers singing along,” said Interim Fair Director Julie LaFave. “Whether you’re a first-time or frequent visitor to The Great New York State Fair, The Cleverlys will be a memorable performance for everyone.”
The Fair starts Wednesday, August 21, and runs through Labor Day, Monday, September 2. All concerts are included in the price of admission, which will go on sale later this summer. The Great New York State Fair is the most affordable state fair in the country. Tickets are $8 for adults while admission is free for children under 12 and senior citizens aged 65 and older.
In total, The Fair’s Chevrolet Music Series will feature 39 national recording acts. There will be a daily 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. concert at Chevy Court (located near Gate 1), and a daily 8 p.m. concert at Suburban Park (located on the western end of the Fairgrounds, beyond the Midway).
