Purple Heart Recipient and Contestant on “The Voice” Tom Nitti to Play at The 2024 Great New York State Fair

Tom Nitti, a former contestant on NBC’s hit talent showcase “The Voice,” will take center stage this summer as the Utica native will perform at The Great New York State Fair’s Chevy Court on August 29 at 1:00 pm.

Nitti is a man with many backgrounds, yet he has always found his way back to music. Growing up, Nitti was inspired by classic Motown artists such as Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder, and The Temptations. At 18, he taught himself to play guitar shortly before graduating high school and joining the military. Originally stationed in Germany, Nitti served his country honorably and was deployed to Afghanistan where he sustained injuries and was later awarded the Purple Heart for his service.

Following in his father’s footsteps, Nitti worked in law enforcement after his time in the military. He served as a New York State Trooper for nine years and continues to support first responders through his involvement with the New York State Police Academy where he assists with training of cadets.

Nitt’s passion for music led him to perform on Team Reba on season 24 of “The Voice.” Since then, he has opened for some of the biggest acts in country music, including Craig Campbell, Hunter Hayes, Chris Janson, and Jimmie Allen.

“Not only is Tom Nitti a successful, self-made country star, but he is also someone who actively gives back to communities throughout New York through his commitment to service,” said Fair Director Julie LaFave. “We are very proud to welcome him to Chevy Court and look forward to seeing one of New York’s own perform at The Great New York State Fair this summer.”

The Fair starts Wednesday, August 21, and runs through Labor Day, Monday, September 2. All concerts and grounds entertainment are included in the price of admission, making The Great New York State Fair one of the most affordable state fairs in the country.

Admission tickets, parking, and passes for The Fair’s famous Midway are set to go on sale at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, July 16 and can be purchased by visiting The Great New York State Fair’s website. Admission tickets are $8 for adults while admission is free for children under 12 and senior citizens aged 65 and older. Fairgoers can also purchase a Frequent Fairgoer pass for $25, which provides admission to all 13-days of The Fair’s run. Parking is $12 per vehicle.

In total, The Fair’s Chevrolet Music Series will feature 39 national recording acts. There will be a daily 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. concert at Chevy Court (located near Gate 1), and a daily 8 p.m. concert at Suburban Park (located on the western end of the Fairgrounds, beyond the Midway).
