Legendary funk musician George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic will perform live at The Great New York State Fair’s Chevy Court on Opening Day, Wednesday, August 20 at 6:00 p.m. With a career spanning over five decades and a revolutionary influence on funk, soul, and R&B, George Clinton is known for hits like “Atomic Dog,” “Flash Light,” and his work with Parliament-Funkadelic, which has shaped the sound of modern music. His innovative style and genre-defying performances will be among a dynamic lineup of artists that will perform at The Great New York State Fair this summer.
George Clinton’s influence extends beyond his chart-topping hits, as he has been a pioneer in the development of funk music, inspiring countless artists across multiple genres. His work has earned him numerous awards and accolades, including inductions into the Rock and Roll, Rhythm & Blues Music, Hip-Hop, and Songwriters Halls of Fame, as well as Kennedy Center Honors and Grammy nominations, solidifying his status as a true innovator and icon in American music history.
“We’re excited to welcome George Clinton and his legendary sound to Chevy Court Opening Day at the Fair,” said Fair Director Julie LaFave. “There’s no better way to kick off our 13-day run of The Fair than with an artist whose groundbreaking music and vibrant stage presence have left an indelible mark on multiple generations of music lovers. We can’t wait for fans to experience his iconic performance live at the Fair.”
The Fair starts Wednesday, August 20, and runs through Labor Day, Monday, September 1. All concerts are included in the price of admission. Tickets are on sale now at The Fair’s website, nysfair.ny.gov. Packed with value, a single admission ticket costs $8 and includes access to all grounds entertainment and the Chevrolet Music Series. In addition, a Frequent Fairgoer ticket option is available for $25. The Fair continues to be one of the most affordable fairs in the nation, with admission remaining free for those aged 65 and older along with children 12 years old and under.
In total, The Fair’s 2025 Chevrolet Music Series will feature 41 national recording acts. There will be a daily 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. concert at Chevy Court (located near Gate 1), and an 8 p.m. concert each evening at Suburban Park (located on the western end of the Fairgrounds, beyond the Midway). The Fair will also host two special shows at 9 p.m. on Friday, August 22 and 29 at Chevy Court.
