Did you hear who is going to play at The Great New York State Fair this summer? “What!” Platinum-selling hip-hop icon Lil Jon is going to be performing live at Suburban Park on Tuesday, August 26 at 8:00 p.m. “OK!” So, are we going to go? “Yeah!”
For over two decades, Lil Jon has been one of the most prominent voices in music and pop culture alike, performing for hundreds of thousands of fans with some of the industry’s biggest names, including Usher, Ludacris, TLC, and more.
“Circle your calendars now because August 26 is a day you won’t want to miss,” mentioned Julie LaFave, Fair Director. “Over the last few years, hip hop has been one of our biggest draws and we’re excited to have an artist the caliber of Lil Jon who has created some of the most memorable sing-a-longs of the last 20 years. The Fair is thrilled to be able to provide incredible value and variety.”
Best known for his role in creating and popularizing a southern hip-hop movement known as crunk, Lil Jon paired with the East Side Boyz in the early 2000s where they became a national force following the success of hit tracks, including “What U Gon’ Do,” “Bia Bia” and “Put Yo Hood Up.” The group reached new heights with “Get Low,” which peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Top 100 chart and was named to the 100 Greatest Songs of Hip-Hop by VH1.
His music, which has been featured in several notable movies and television shows, has earned a Grammy Award, eight Billboard Awards, a BET Award, two MTV Video Music Awards, and an American Music Award. Additionally, Lil Jon has a long list of platinum-selling productions with artists such as E-40, Usher, Ciara, The Ying Yang Twins, Ice Cube, and others.
The Fair starts Wednesday, August 20, and runs through Labor Day, Monday, September 1. All concerts are included in the price of admission, and tickets are on sale now. The Great New York State Fair is the most affordable state fair in the country. Tickets are $8 for adults while admission is free for children under 12 and senior citizens aged 65 and older.
