Fair Time Employment:

The New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets, Division of the State Fair, is now seeking individuals who are interested in temporary employment during this year's annual New York State Fair, August 24 – September 5, 2022.

The inability to work all the days of the State Fair will limit available assignments. The work hours, rate of pay, and duration of employment varies by assignment. Certain positions are needed in advance of the first day of the State Fair. Applicants may be subject to background investigation/criminal history checks. Positions do not include parking or cleaning. 

The Department of Agriculture and Markets does not directly employ any of the outside food vendors or concessionaires.

Summer Employment:

The New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets is actively seeking candidates for summer employment at the Great New York State Fair. These positions generally start in late spring and continue through Labor Day.

  • State Fair Worker

The State Fair Worker performs manual tasks, including grounds work, cleaning, and maintenance services.

  • Trades Generalist

The Trades Generalist performs journey-level work in one trade, and skilled and semi-skilled level work in a combination of other trades in the repair and maintenance of facilities and equipment.

Trades Generalist Minimum Qualifications: Four years of full-time experience in a trade under a skilled journey level worker which would provide training equivalent to that given in an apprenticeship program. Apprenticeship training in a trade or training gained by the completion of technical courses in a trade at a school, institute or branch of the Armed Services may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.

  • Administrative

The Administrative position performs entry-level clerical and office support, including answering phones, data entry, keyboarding and other document preparation tasks.
