The New York State Fairgrounds is immediately adjacent to Route 690 just West of Syracuse. It is easily accessible from the New York State Thruway (Rt. 90) from the West and East, and from Route 81, North and South. Just follow the signs to the Fairgrounds once you enter the Syracuse area.
From the West - Buffalo / Rochester Area
Take the New York State Thruway (Rt. 90 East) to Exit 39, then follow Rt. 690 East.
From the East - Albany / Utica Area
Take the New York State Thruway (Rt. 90 West) to Exit 34A, follow Rt. 481 South, then follow Rt. 690 West.
From the North - Watertown Area
Take Interstate 81 South into Syracuse to Exit 22. Follow Bear Street (Rt. 298) to Rt. 690 West.
From the South - Binghamton / Cortland Area
Take Interstate 81 North into Syracuse, then follow Rt. 690 West.
From the New York City / Downstate Area
Take best route to Binghamton, N.Y. then take Interstate 81 North into Syracuse, then follow Rt. 690 West.

How Else Can I Get to The Fair?
Centro will once again provide its popular Park-N-Ride direct shuttle service to the New York State Fair. Centro Express buses will regularly depart from locations across Onondaga, Cayuga, and Oswego Counties arriving at the Fair's new Park-N-Ride lot outside gate 10. New for 2019, free express trams will provide non-stop service between gates 10 and 12 (at Chevy Court). This is in addition to the Fair’s regular free trams that stop at various points. Trams are free courtesy of Chevrolet.
The first Centro shuttle from downtown Syracuse will arrive at the Gray Lot Bus Depot at Gate 10 at 6:55am. The next bus will depart downtown at 8:00am, with buses leaving downtown every 13 minutes. The first Park-N-Ride buses will arrive at the Gray Lot Bus Depot at approximately 8:50am.

Trailways of New York Bus Service
Trailways of New York has a terminal stop at the Regional Transportation Center, located at 1 Walsh Circle in Syracuse. This stop is approximately 4 miles and a quick ridesharing or taxi service trip to the New York State Fairgrounds. You can also get off at the Destiny USA stop and take the Centro Park-N-Ride service to the Fair. Click here for routes and timetables.
Amtrak Train Service
Amtrak has continued its partnership with the New York State Fair to provide direct train service for customers traveling as a more convenient, cost-effective, family friendly and comfortable way to travel to and from the Empire State’s largest annual event between Wednesday, Aug. 21 and Monday, Sept. 2.
Skip tolls, traffic and parking fees, and arrive steps from the fairgrounds via select Empire Service (Trains 281, 283, 284 and 288) and Maple Leaf (Trains 63 and 64) trains, which will make daily stops at the State Fair (in between stops at Rochester and Syracuse stations), adjacent to the Fairgrounds. The Amtrak station code for the New York State Fair is NYF.
Westbound trains originating in New York City stop at the Fair at 1:21 p.m. during the week and 12:56 p.m. on weekends (Train 63), 3:58 p.m. daily (Train 281) and 6:57 p.m. daily (Train 283). Eastbound trains originating from Toronto or Niagara Falls stop at the Fair at 9:33 a.m. (Train 284) and 3:00 p.m. (Train 64), and 5:45 p.m. only on Monday, Sept. 2 (Train 288) en route to Albany and New York City.
In addition to the Fair stop, Amtrak is also offering a “kids ride free” promotion (one free child for each paying adult on the same itinerary) for travel to and from the Fair, which must be booked online at Amtrak.com and at least three days in advance of travel with the promo code V153. This sale is valid only during the duration of the Fair and includes one blackout date on Friday, Aug. 30. Other terms and conditions apply.
Tickets are available now at Amtrak.com, via the Amtrak mobile app, at station ticket counters or by calling 1-800-USA-RAIL. As always, customers will enjoy plenty of legroom, a generous luggage policy, and scenic routes. Amtrak also offers free Wi-Fi, the freedom to use phones and electronic devices at all times (no “airplane mode”).
Ridesharing & Taxi Services
Now both app-based ridesharing and taxi services will utilize the same area to drop off and pick-up riders. This area is located alongside State Fair Boulevard, between gate 2 where vehicles will enter, and the main gate where they will exit. Click here to view a map showing area. This area is not to be used for drop off and pick-up by any other non-service type vehicles.
There is no drop off or pick-up at the main gate at any time!
- Any ridesharing or taxi service going to the St. Joseph’s Health Amphitheater at Lakeview to drop-off or pick-up in the designed area of the Orange Lot will be charged $5.00 to enter.
For fairgoers the Fair's general admission gates open at 7:00am daily and close at 10:00pm, except for Labor Day, when the entire grounds close at 9:00pm. Exhibit buildings are open from 10:00am to 10:00pm, with the exception of Labor Day when they close at 9:00pm.
- For vendors, Gates 7 and 11 are open 24 hours a day for vehicle access only (proper permit required).
