Chris Nothnagle presents History of Hops in New York.

New York was once the undisputed capital of American hop growing! Trace the rise, fall, and rise again of the State’s hop industry. Beginning in the 1808s where a NY farmer named James Coolidge is credited with planting the state’s first hop yard, to the surprising 21st-century revival, as the craft beer boom and state Farm Brewery incentives have brought hop cultivation back to New York soil after nearly a century’s absence.

Taste and learn how New York Craft Beverages connect agriculture, tourism, and community by visiting the Seminar Room located in the Taste NY Section of the Horticulture Building.

Must be 21 years of age to sample.
